From June 17 to August 22, 2004, Sense & Sensibility, a group exhibition with Vanessa Beecroft, Kim Sooja, Ann Veronica Janssens, Jenny Holzer, Geneviève Cadieux, Pipilotti Rist, Gina Pane, Louise Bourgeois, Elke Krystufek, Angela Bulloch, Annika von Hausswolf, Emmanuelle Mafille, Lucy Orta, Joëlle Tuerlinckx, Seino Yoshiko, curated by Hilde Teerlinck.

Pursuing the logic of a program initiated last year with the exhibition Comme une image, for which a private collector’s works were on view, we decided to center this new exhibition around another collection. We are thrilled to present a selection of works (installations, photographs, drawings, sculptures,…) belonging to the Fonds National d’Art Contemporain (National Foundation for Contemporary Art). Belonging to the French state, this collection gathers iconic works of extraordinary quality from some of the greatest artists of our time.

As the title Sense & Sensibility suggests, two strands can be culled from the artists: while some prioritize a more «intellectual», conceptual, rational approach, others center their work around sense and sensibility.
